Recent Examples: In-Store Promotions Create Sales

Hey Joel,

There really is something to your concept of in store promotions and unannouced store savings. I took our son Jeff to Kohl's Department  Store this afternoon to get him some pants and shirts for his freshman year at Iowa State University. It  was Friday afternoon and Kohl's had a store special from 3pm to 11pm, where everything in the store was 50% off. And here is the receipt to prove it.

We saved $308.66 on this purchase. It was more than enough to purchase that 19" HD Color TV he wanted for his dorm room. That's really great. I almost felt like we were stealing from the store because their in store deal was so good. Spread the word to other businesses, because I sure like to save money.  If its good enough for Kohl's, its good enough for any business.

I took my son to Men's Wearhouse to buy him a new sport coat and two pairs of pants. It was like pulling teeth to get this 18 year old into the store, but I did it. We ended up with the sport coat, two pair of pants, some shirts, ties, a belt, and a pair of shoes. When I went to the register, I thought we had bought to much, but to my surprise we were automatically enrolled in their gist program and a $50 gift certificate was to be emailed to our house within 7 to 10 days. And even though this was a rewards program, and not a coupon, it had the same effect. We got something for nothing , at check out, when we did nto expect it. Sre was a good feeling. Here's a picture of the Rewards card that gives us a point for every dollar purchased. When you get to $500, you get a $50 gift certificate, or 10% off.

We went bowling today, and as we walked into the alley, we were handed two sets of these cool coupons. One was to be used right now to save money, and the other set was to be used at a later date to save  even more money the next time we came back.   There were 6 of us, so we got 6 free games, and the rest of the games were only 99 cents. Our group had a great time, and with these coupons we were able to buy more beer and popcorn, and still save money.  Who ever thought of passing out coupons in the store when we walked in made our day. Thanks!  Here's a copy of the second set of coupons we are going to use next week and do it all over again.
